Fibroids are lumps that grow in the wall of the uterus (womb). They're also called myomas. Fibroids are almost always not cancer. You can have one fibroid, or many of them. They can be small like a seed or big like a grapefruit. Sometimes they get very large. About 70 to 80 percent of women will get fibroids, but not everyone will feel sick or need treatment.
